1st prize & completion of indicative project
We are delighted with the completion of the indicative project, the strong support from the public and the upcoming further planning.
The open spaces are robust and clearly differentiated. Different gradients of public space are seamlessly interlinked. A high degree of diversity in use promises opportunities for everyone. The open spaces contribute significantly to the identity of the project and its neighborhoods and address the buildings in a natural way. Thanks to their predominantly nature-oriented design, the open spaces evoke a coexistence of people and nature and achieve a high biodiversity index. The open spaces support the climate-effective projects and deal with future changes in a resilient manner.
The high proportion of green open spaces forms the basis for a significant contribution to the sponge city. The storage capacity of the project at city level is further increased by retention roofs and planted soakaways along squares and façades. What they have in common is an ecological-naturalistic approach that aims for robustness and aesthetics at the same time: questions that need to be solved pragmatically, such as rainwater management or heat island effects with high building density, are answered with circular principles, climate-resistant planting, curiosity, a desire to discover and the courage to embrace the process.
